Guardline Wireless Driveway Alarm Review

November 5, 2018 By It's A Yard Life

Security is a major concern for most home owners and the Guardline Wireless Driveway alarm is designed to alert you when someone sets foot on your property.

This wireless alarm has a long range and features an adjustable volume, that is loud enough to notify you if some unusual activity is taking place outside your home.

Being out in the country, we have a quarter-mile long driveway and a lot of trees that block our view of people coming.

So we’ve placed this alarm 300-400 ft away from the house in order to alert us when a vehicle is approaching.

The fact that this type of security product is used outside, means it needs to be able to withstand everything mother nature has to throw at it.

Each of these alarms is weatherproof and sturdy, so it should last for a long time to come.

We’ve used this device for over a year and it’s held up to the rain and snow without issue.

What Are The Key Features of the Guardline Wireless Driveway Alarm?

  • It Is Easy to Set Up and Use

Unfortunately, many security devices are complicated to use and difficult to setup, but this is not the case with the Guardline Wireless Driveway alarm.

After following the quick start guide, your new device should be up and running in a matter of minutes, so there’s no need to call in an alarm expert.

  • Functionality Can Be Expanded

When you purchase the Guardline Wireless Driveway alarm, you receive one sensor and one receiver.

However, if you want to monitor a larger area, a maximum of 16 sensors can be added and as many receivers as you like, can be added.

  • Motion Detection

This device is designed to detect motion in a maximum of 4 different zones and each zone can have as many as 4 sensors.

Movement within 40 feet of the sensors can be detected and each sensor uses 4 AA batteries, that should last up to one year. (We change ours out twice a year)

An AC adaptor or 4 AAA batteries, are used to power the receiver and the receiver’s 12-volt relay allows you to integrate the alarm with other devices, such as bells, alarms or chimes.

What It Will Not Do

The Guardline Wireless Driveway alarm has its limitations.

It can only detect motion up to 40 feet away, which may not be enough for owners of larger properties.

When you purchase this alarm, it comes with a single sensor and receiver.

This only covers a limited amount of space and means you have to purchase further accessories to expand the functionality of this security system.

Pros

  1. It is easy to set up and useGuardline Wireless Driveway Alarm
  2. Sturdy, weatherproof construction
  3. Includes a lifetime guarantee
  4. It can be expanded to suit different requirements

Cons

  1. Does not work all of time
  2. Very sensitive at times when pets or other animals walk by it
  3. Issues with the volume

Bottom Line – Does It Live Up to Its Promises?

A large number of people have purchased this alarm, and there have been mixed reports about just how good it is.

Some people have found that the Guardline Wireless Driveway alarm is as good as what’s out there.

However, other owners of this alarm, including myself, have found that it works intermittently and does not always detect people or vehicles passing by. That’s not real comforting in today’s world.

In other situations, it can be too sensitive and goes off when small objects or small animals, such as birds are detected by its sensors.

I think that even leaves falling can often set off the alarm.

Another group of people found that this alarm worked perfectly for a month or so and then began to experience problems.

This inconsistency for a product that is supposed to keep you, your family and your property safe and secure, is a huge concern for homeowners. With this in mind, you may want to look for a more reliable option.
